Laozi (571-471 BC), born in Luyi, Henan, China, was a philosopher, thinker and the founder of the Taoism. He was worshipped as an imperial ancestor during the Tang Dynasty (618-907). His timeless masterpiece Daodejing (The Classic of the Way) reflects the essence of simple dialectics and advocates good government by non-action and the cultivation of body and spirit, which has far-reach influence upon Chinese philosophy.
