Today we're gonna listen to a dialogue in which two people are discussing a newcomer to the company.

A: So, Lauren, I just wanted to talk to you quickly about our new customer support representative, Jason Huntley.

B: Sure, what’s up?

A: Basically, I’ve got a few concerns about him, and the bottom line is, I don’t think he’s a good fit for our company.

B: Okay... what makes you say that? I thought you were pleased with his overall performance. Didn’t you just tell me last week how impressed you were with his attitude?

1. I don’t think he’s a good fit for our company.
 分析：
  • don't和think連讀時，don’t結(jié)尾的t /t/ 進(jìn)行略讀處理，一起讀作 /do?n(t)/+/θ??k?/；
he’s a good fit四個詞之間有2個連讀：
  • he’s a是輔元連讀，一起讀作 /hiz/+/?/；
  • good fit是輔輔連讀，good結(jié)尾的/d/音和后面的/f/音相遇，二者都是輔音，所以讀后不讀前，故一起讀作/ɡ?/+/f?t/。

2. But that's not the only thing...
分析：
  • but和that’s連讀時，but結(jié)尾的t/t/進(jìn)行略讀處理，一起讀作 /b?/+/e?ts/。
  • not和the連讀時，not結(jié)尾的t/t/也進(jìn)行略讀處理，一起讀作 /nɑ/+/e?/。注意此處還有一個only，所以the的讀音變成 /ei/。
  • 特殊詞匯強(qiáng)調(diào)：only /英???nli, 美?o?nli /。

4. impress
