just as …… , so …… 是一個(gè)較常用的特殊句型，意為 “正如 ……一樣，……也……”，用

于表示兩個(gè)句子意義上肯定的比擬。在這個(gè)句型中，just as 引導(dǎo)的是從句，so 是副詞，其

后為主句。

先看幾個(gè)例句：

Just as journalists must have a “nose” for a good story, so good press

photographers must have an “eye” for news.

正如文字記者必須用 “鼻子” 去嗅好故事一樣，攝影記者必須用 “眼睛” 去尋好新聞。 

Just as dark clouds cannot long hide the sun, so no lies can cover up the fact.

正如烏云不能長(zhǎng)久遮蔽太陽(yáng)，謊言也掩蓋不了事實(shí)。

Just as it is important to find the right pulse for a piece of music, so you must find

the right rhythm by which to live your life.

正如要為一首音樂(lè)找到正確的節(jié)拍一樣，你也要找到適合自己生活的節(jié)拍。

●  這個(gè)句型中的副詞 so 有時(shí)可以省略。例如：

Just as Darwin discovered the law of development of nature, (so) Marx discovered

the law of development of human history.

正如達(dá)爾文發(fā)現(xiàn)了自然發(fā)展的規(guī)律一樣,馬克思發(fā)現(xiàn)了人類(lèi)歷史發(fā)展的規(guī)律。

Just as hydraulic machines make use of the properties of liquids, (so) pneumatic

machines make use of the properties of gases.

 正如液壓機(jī)械是利用液體的特征, 氣動(dòng)機(jī)械也是利用氣體的特征。

●  這個(gè)句型中的主句和從句較短時(shí)，特別在諺語(yǔ)中，just 可以省去，此時(shí) so 不能省略，

即成：  as ……， so ……。主句中還可用倒裝結(jié)構(gòu).

例如：

(Just) as the lion is the king of beasts, so the eagle is the king of birds.

正如獅子是百獸之王那樣, 鷹也就是百鳥(niǎo)之王。

(Just) as bitter medicine cures sickness, so unpalatable advice benefits conduct.

良藥可口利于病，忠言逆耳利于行。

As fire tries gold, so does adversity try virtue.

正如烈火試煉真金，逆境試煉人的美德。

As you sow, so will you reap.

種瓜得瓜，種豆得豆。

●  這個(gè)句型通常是用于兩個(gè)不同的句子意義上的比擬。有時(shí)還可以用于主句與從句是同一

主語(yǔ)，或主句和從句主語(yǔ)謂都相同的句子。

例如：

Just as music is a universal language, so it is a mirror of the time.

正像音樂(lè)是一種全球性的語(yǔ)言，它也是一面時(shí)代的鏡子。

Just as new technologies continue to appear in the field of space, so in undersea

exploration。

就像航天領(lǐng)域中不斷涌現(xiàn)新技術(shù)一樣, 海底勘探中也不斷現(xiàn)出新技術(shù)。

● 還可以在so 后面添加 too, 進(jìn)一步加強(qiáng)兩者的相似性，so too 后面的句可采用倒裝語(yǔ)序。

例如：

Just as the body needs regular exercise, so too an engine needs to be run at 

regular intervals.

就像身體需要定期鍛煉一樣，引擎也需要定期運(yùn)轉(zhuǎn)。

Just as a mirror is flat, silver and reflective, so too was the water in the lake

shining and still. 

就像鏡子是扁平的、銀色的、反光的一樣，湖里的水也是閃閃發(fā)光的、靜止的。

Just as snow falling in a river melts away almost immediately, so too is pleasure is

a very temporary thing.

就像落在河里的雪很快就會(huì)融化一樣，快樂(lè)也是一件非常短暫的事情。
