和英美人聊天的時候，常常會聽到對方說完一句話之后跟上一個 though 。雖然你心里很清楚 though 的意思是「雖然」，但是好像一下子很難反應(yīng)過來為什么要加上這個 though（大多數(shù)情況下，though 的確是放在句子開頭的 ）。來看下面的例句和對話：

I'm sorry, I can't stay for lunch. I'll have a coffee, though. 很抱歉我不能留下來吃午飯。不過我還是喝杯咖啡吧。（a coffee =  a cup of coffee）

—— You have six hours in the airport between flights! 你轉(zhuǎn)機(jī)的時候要在機(jī)場等待6個小時阿！—— I don’t mind, though. I have lots of work to do. I’ll just bring my laptop with me. 但是我不介意。我還有很多工作要做，帶上筆記本電腦就行。

看到這里是不是已經(jīng)有答案了？沒錯，though 除了「雖然」之外，還有「但是」的含義。

THOUGH / HOWEVER

though 在表示「但是」的時候，用法和 however 基本一致。只不過 though 在表示轉(zhuǎn)折的時候，常常會放在句子最后。對比下面兩個句子：

We thought the figures were correct. However, we have now discovered some errors. 我們原以為數(shù)據(jù)是正確，但現(xiàn)在我們發(fā)現(xiàn)了一些錯誤。

Economics is a difficult subject. It's interesting, though. 經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)是一門難懂的學(xué)科，但很有趣。

THOUGH / ALTHOUGH

在表示「雖然」的時候，although 和 though 可以互換著用。口語里 though 更常用。

此外，可以說 even though，但是不能說 even although。

THOUGH 用在倒裝句

同樣在表示「雖然」的時候，though 可以引導(dǎo)一個倒裝句。

Strange though it may sound, I was pleased it was over. 雖然這么說有點(diǎn)奇怪，但我還是很高興這事兒結(jié)束了。

此時 though 一般不能用 although 代替。
