英語動詞是英語學習的重點也是學習的難點,我們不僅要記住動詞的音形義,還要記住動詞的不同時態(tài)變化,而最難掌握的則是動詞的使用方法,很多簡單的動詞如Go,Make,Do等在不同的語境環(huán)境中表達不同的含義,對我們英語學習者來說全面掌握這些常用動詞的基本用法就變得十分重要。我們都知道只要能夠熟練使用3000個常用英語單詞便能夠實現(xiàn)正常的日常工作交流。根據(jù)我國的英語教學大綱要求,我們高中畢業(yè)就能夠達到3000以上的英語詞匯量,但是卻很少有高中生能夠自由無障礙地使用英語交流,因此我們會將英語常用動詞的用法給大家做一個系統(tǒng)總結,讓大家能夠全面掌握這些動詞的使用方法。本期我們將一起來學習一下英語動詞Make 的使用方法。 第一、Make作為動詞表示做某事 make / me?k / ( making , made , makes ) 1. ?V-T You can use make with a wide range of nouns to indicate that someone performs an action or says something. For example, if you make a suggestion, you suggest something. 與名詞連用,表示做動作或說某事 (1) ?I'd just like to make a comment. 我只想做一下評論。 (2) I made a few phone calls. 我打了幾個電話。 2. ?V-T You can use make with certain nouns to indicate that someone does something well or badly. For example, if you make a success of something, you do it successfully, and if you make a mess of something, you do it very badly. 與某些名詞連用,表示做得好或做得糟 例:?Apparently he made a mess of his audition. 顯然他把試演搞得一團糟。 3. ?V-T/V-I If you make as if to do something or make to do something, you behave in a way that makes it seem that you are just about to do it. 擺出 (要做某事的姿態(tài)) [書面] 例:?Mary made as if to protest, then hesitated. 瑪麗似乎要抗議,又猶豫了。 4. ?PHRASE If you make do with something, you use or have it instead of something else that you do not have, although it is not as good. (拿…) 湊合 例:?Why make do with a copy if you can afford the genuine article? 如果你買得起正品,為什么還拿復制品湊合呢? 第二、Make表示引起某事或使某事發(fā)生變化 1. ?V-T If something makes you do something, it causes you to do it. 致使 (某人做某事) (1) Dirt from the motorway made him cough. 公路上的灰塵使他咳嗽起來。 (2) The white tips of his shirt collar made him look like a choirboy. 他襯衣的白色領尖使他看起來像個唱詩班男童。 2. ?V-T If you make someone do something, you force them to do it. 迫使 (某人做某事) 例:?You can't make me do anything. 你不能強迫我做任何事。 3. ?V-T You use make to talk about causing someone or something to be a particular thing or to have a particular quality. For example, to make someone a star means to cause them to become a star, and to make someone angry means to cause them to become angry. 使 (某人、某事物) 變成…; 使變得… (1) ...James Bond, the role that made him a star. …詹姆斯·邦德,那個使他成為明星的角色。 (2) She made life very difficult for me. 她使我的生活變得很艱難。 4. ?V-T If you say that one thing or person makes another seem, for example, small, stupid, or good, you mean that they cause them to seem small, stupid, or good in comparison, even though they are not. 使 (某物、某人) 顯得… 例:?They live in fantasy worlds which make Disneyland seem uninventive. 他們生活在幻想世界里,那些幻想使迪斯尼樂園也顯得毫無創(chuàng)意。 5. ?V-T If you make yourself understood, heard, or known, you succeed in getting people to understand you, hear you, or know that you are there. 使 (自己被人理解﹑聽到﹑知曉等) 例:?He learned enough Spanish to make himself understood. 他學的西班牙語足以讓別人明白。 6. ?V-T If you make someone something, you appoint them to a particular job, role, or position. 任命 (某人擔任某職或角色) 例:?He made her a director in his numerous companies. 他任命她為他數(shù)家公司的主管。 7. ?V-T If you make something into something else, you change it in some way so that it becomes that other thing. 把 (某物) 變成 (另一物) 例:?We made it into a beautiful home. 我們把它變成了一個漂亮的家。 8. ?V-T To make a total or score a particular amount means to increase it to that amount. 使 (總數(shù)、分數(shù)) 升為 (某數(shù)) 例:?This makes the total cost of the bulb and energy $27. 這使得燈泡和電量的總耗費升為$27。 9. ?V-T When someone makes a friend or an enemy, someone becomes their friend or their enemy, often because of a particular thing they have done. 結成 (朋友或敵人) 例:?Lorenzo was a natural leader who made friends easily. 洛倫佐是個天生的領導者,結交朋友容易。 第三、Make表示創(chuàng)造或生產 1. ?V-T To make something means to produce, construct, or create it. 制作; 創(chuàng)作 (1) She made her own bread. 她自己做了面包。 (2) Having curtains made professionally can be costly. 找專業(yè)人員制作窗簾會很貴。 2. ?V-T If you make a note or list, you write something down in that form. 寫 (筆記、清單等) 例:?Mr. Perry made a note in his book. 佩里先生在他的書里做了批注。 3. ?V-T If you make rules or laws, you decide what these should be. 制定 (規(guī)則、法律等) 例:The police don't make the laws, they merely enforce them. 警察不制定法律,只是執(zhí)行法律。 4. ?V-T If you make money, you get it by working for it, by selling something, or by winning it. 掙; 賺; 贏 (錢) 例:I think every business's goal is to make money. 我想每筆生意的目的都是賺錢。 5. ?V-T If you make a case for something, you try to establish or prove that it is the best thing to do. (為某事) 做解釋 例:You could certainly make a case for this point of view. 你當然可以為這種觀點做解釋。 6. ?N-COUNT The make of something such as a car or radio is the name of the company that made it. (產品的) 牌子 例:?The only car parked outside is a black Saab – a different make. 停在外面的惟一一輛車是黑色的薩博–一個不同的牌子。 第四、Make作為系動詞 1. ?V-LINK You can use make to say that someone or something has the right qualities for a particular task or role. For example, if you say that someone will make a good politician, you mean that they have the right qualities to be a good politician. 成為 (1) She'll make a good actress, if she gets the right training. 如果她得到恰當訓練,她會成為一名好演員。 (2) You've a very good idea there. It will make a good book. 你的那個絕妙觀點會使之成為一本好書。 2. ?V-LINK If people make a particular pattern such as a line or a circle, they arrange themselves in this way. 排成 (某圖案) 例:A group of people made a circle around the Pentagon. 一群人繞五角大樓圍成了一個圈。 3. ?V-LINK You can use make to say what two numbers add up to. 是 (用于加法) 例:Four twos make eight. 4個2是8。 第五、Make表示取得或到達 1. ?V-T If someone makes a particular team or makes a particular high position, they do so well that they are put in that team or get that position. 成為 (某隊成員); 得到 (某職位) 例:?The athletes are just happy to make the team. 那些運動員很高興加入該隊。 2. ?V-T If you make a place in or by a particular time, you get there in or by that time, often with some difficulty. (常指艱難地) 到達 (某地) 例:The engine is gulping two tons of fuel an hour in order to make New Orleans by nightfall. 引擎每小時消耗兩噸燃料以便在天黑之前趕到新奧爾良。 3. ?PHRASE If you make it somewhere, you succeed in getting there, especially in time to do something. 成功到達 (某地) (1) So you did make it to America, after all. 這樣你終究成功到達了美國。 (2) ...the hostages who never made it home. …始終沒能回家的人質們。 4. ?PHRASE If you make it, you are successful in achieving something difficult, or in surviving through a very difficult period. (歷經艱難) 獲得成功 例:I believe I have the talent to make it. 我相信我有獲得成功的才干。 5. ?PHRASE If you cannot make it, you are unable to attend an event that you have been invited to. 如約而至 例:He hadn't been able to make it to our dinner. 他沒能如約參加我們的晚宴。 第六、Make指明時間或數(shù)量 1. ?V-T You use make it when saying what you calculate or guess an amount to be. 計算; 估計 例:?'How many shots has she got left?'—'I make it two.' “她還剩幾顆子彈?”–“我估計是兩顆?!?/p> 2. ?V-T You use make it when saying what time your watch says it is. 看表上是 (某時間) 例:?I make it nearly nine o'clock. 我的表上快9:00了。 |
