Nine Emperor Gods Festival is a nine-day Taoist celebration during which believers of Nine Emperor Gods eat only vegetarian foods and cease all entertainments. They use these days to offer incense to Buddha in Buddhist temples to pray for the peace, happiness and good luck of the whole family. Yet a series of sacrificial ceremonies will be held in Chinese ancestral temples in Phuket Island in honor of the gods who are believed to have descended to the world to suffer for the people as well as bring blessings and good luck.
